FOTSUN ready: The Lulu Raes will perform at FOTSUN for the second year in a row.RETURNING for the second year in a row, Eastern Suburbs band Lulu Raes can not wait to perform at Festival of the Sun on December 9 and 10.

Drummer Tom Cardy described last years gig as having a great and lively vibe. They expect nothing less in 2016.

“We even learnt to love a new band, North East Party House, which was one of my personal favourites from last year,” he said.

“Our music is kind of indy, pop rock. I heard one guy explain it as something like power pop, which is like the Strokes and a bit epic.”

The Lulu Raes are made up on five friends, Tom, lead singer Eddie, guitarist Taras, bass guitarist Marcus and lead guitarist Angus.

“We’ve been together for almost three years. It started off with Taras and Eddie writing a lot of songs together,” Tom said.

“They wanted to expand and make an actual band, and here we are. We have so much fun.

“We’re all such “lovely” people. At least our mums say so. But we all love music and we love working together, so it easy to do.”

The band takes influence from artists like The Strokes and The Pixies, as well as pop heroes Christina Aguilera and Macy Gray, attempting to land somewhere in the middle.

The Sydney lads have supported Holy Holy, The Vines, DMA’s, Little Bastard and also completed national sold out tours with Art of Sleeping and Sticky Fingers.
