They travelled to Mangoplah to take on the always-strongMangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes Goannas on their home turf.

All of MCUE’s sides were deeply entrenched in the top five bar the C grade outfit, who sat just outside finals but were very much in contention for a finals spot just four points outside the five.

With just one round remaining in the season, the losses didn’t affect the Swans’ seasons as all four sides weren’t able to make the finals.

It does set up an enthralling final round as Griffith looks to avoid the wooden spoon in several grades.

In A grade, the Swans sit four points clear of the bottom-placed Coolamon.

The A reserve side will receive the wooden spoon as they sit 12 points behind Narrandera who are one spot higher than the Swans.

It’s a similar story in B grade. The Swans are eight points behind eighth-placed Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong and are destined to receive the spoon.

The C grade side had been in good form prior to last round.

The Swans had secured back-to-back wins to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder. They now sit equal with GGGM on eight points.
