HARD AT WORK: Member for Cootamundra Katrina Hodgkinson is delighted the State Government has given Cowra Shire Council a $2,128,993 low-cost loan.WHILE Blayney Council’s future remains up in the air Memberfor Cootamundra Katrina Hodgkinson has welcomed the announcement the State Government is enabling Cowra Shire Council to unlock investment in infrastructure through a $2,128,993 low-cost loan.

Ms Hodgkinson said the ‘Fit for the Future’ council has accessed the loan through the NSW Government’s borrowing facility, TCorp, to address the infrastructure backlog across the Cowra Shire.

Cowra mayor Bill West said the council is pleased to be able to access the loans.

“As a result of the hard work and good management of this council and previous councils, we have been deemed Fit for the Future and are pleased to be able to access these loans,”said Cr Bill West.

“The low interest loans will enable us to further develop the economic strength of the shire.

“We will continue to work with State Government and the community to progress Cowra Shire’s important infrastructure projects,” Cr West said.

Ms Hodgkinson said: “The TCorp borrowing facility allows councils and their communities to benefit from the sound financial management and AAA credit rating of the NSW Government.

“Through this loan, the NSW Government has opened the door for Cowra Shire Council to invest in vital services and infrastructure for residents right across the local government area.”

Ms Hodgkinson said the projects that would be funded under the loan included$1,478,993 for an airport subdivision,$400,000 for depot redevelopment and$250,000 for a cemetery expansion.
